Make-A-Wish Foundation

The most difficult question of the day on Irene’s wish trip to Club Med at Paradise Island, Bahamas, was whether to relax on the white sandy beach, the seawater swimming pool or be pampered at the spa! Paradise was indeed found when 17 year-old Irene and her family arrived in the Bahamas for a weeklong wish vacation.

Leisurely days spent snorkeling, hand feeding bananas to tropical fish, boat trips on brilliant turquoise waters and two-day trips to the Atlantis Resort rounded out the week. Amongst Irene’s long list of unforgettable experiences was one she will hold close to her heart forever… the chance to swim with dolphins. Irene fell in love with the beautiful, friendly creatures… dancing with them and hugging them. She especially enjoyed being propelled across the lagoon by the bottom of her feet by the friendly animals.

The greatest gift of Irene’s wish was the gift of time the foursome spent together as a family on Paradise Island. Together they created beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of B.C. & Yukon grants one special wish for children between the ages of 3-17 who have a life-threatening illness. We believe that having a wish to look forward to gives children hope, strength and joy during an otherwise difficult time. We receive no government funding and operate our wish program through the generous donations of caring individuals, companies and events like ENDEAVOUR.
